Resource Industries’ portfolio features projects of all sizes, scopes and levels of complexity.
The construction industry is evolving in many ways, especially as it relates to diversity and technology. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most male-dominated industries in the world. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women account for only 10.3 percent of the total workforce and only 1.4 percent are involved in the production, transportation and material moving sector. One of these women is Leah Hamilton, president and CEO of Resource Industries LLC.
As the sole owner of the company, Hamilton has over 14 years of professional experience in residential, commercial and civil construction and has earned several certifications, including OSHA 30 and LEED designation. She is also a Platinum Level Graduate of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Leadership and Development Program and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
A Valuable Resource
Throughout history, “construction aggregates have served as the foundation of our cities, towns and transportation networks,” Hamilton remarks. Thousands of years ago, entire civilizations were built by stone, sand and gravel, and many of these ancient structures still exist today. In fact, “studies show that over the past 60 years, per capita consumption of aggregates has increased from 3.5 tons per year to over 10 metric tons annually, which is more than 22,000 pounds for every man, woman and child in the United States — each year!” she adds.
Headquartered in our nation’s capital, Resource Industries is a certified WBE, MBE, DBE, SBE specializing in the sourcing and supply of construction aggregate materials, including crushed stone, sand, gravel, asphalt, rock salt, rip-rap, armor stone, mulch, engineered soils, custom blends and erosion control products. The company also performs hauling and disposal, equipment rentals and transport, roll-off services and has recently expanded its operations in performing site-work, erosion control and on-site crushing.
Sustainable Operations
In an era of climate change, environmental concerns have become an integral part of design and construction. As members of the U.S. Green Building Council, “we aim to identify products that not only best serve our customers but also the environment, as well as the communities where we live and work,” Hamilton notes. In doing so, a large majority of the materials that Resource Industries supplies are recycled aggregates, which help to preserve natural resources. “Our end-game is to reduce waste by recycling spoils, such as dirt, concrete and asphalt which would otherwise end up in our landfills,” she adds.
Track Record of Growth
The world is changing faster than ever before with the population in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area increasing significantly; all of whom need housing as well as the transportation and utility infrastructure to match.
Alongside top-of-the-line contractors, Resource Industries supports a broad spectrum of both public and private-sector projects in roadwork, airport, education, rapid transit, utilities, communications, water treatment, military, parks, stream and wetland restoration.
As a company, “we are driven by our customer’s needs and passionate about creating innovative solutions that transform traditional industry challenges and increase productivity,” Hamilton says. In support of these values, Resource Industries has recently released a new mobile application that will leverage technology to advance workflow efficiencies through increased visibility and communication.
Committed to Giving Back
As a leading supplier, Resource Industries embraces social responsibility as an opportunity to give back to the communities where its team lives and works. According to Hamilton, “participating in philanthropic causes is part of our guiding principles in building an organization that our employees, customers and vendors are proud to be associated with.”

Over the last decade, Resource Industries’ has earned recognition for delivering value-added solutions for its clients. The company’s portfolio features projects of all sizes, scopes and levels of complexity. “Our team thrives on challenges and genuinely seeks to exced customer expectations,” says Hamilton. In the coming years, the company will focus on continuous growth while remaining true to its core values for safety, diversity, sustainability and innovation.
