Building on a Family Legacy
Ron and Todd Reed grew up on construction sites, working summers for their father’s building company. In the mid-1990s, Todd relocated from California to Georgia, followed by Ron. After years in the custom home sector—and experiencing burnout managing high-volume projects—they decided to scale back and prioritize quality over quantity.
“We wanted to do fewer homes, but do them better,” says Todd.
Today, REED BROTHERS builds just five or six homes at a time, allowing the team to give each project the care and creativity it deserves.
Distinct Roles, Shared Vision
The brothers divide responsibilities based on their strengths. Todd handles design and budgeting, while Ron manages on-site construction and logistics. Their collaboration is seamless—Todd sends Ron his architectural concepts for feasibility checks, and Ron provides real-world insight to ensure designs work on the ground.
Many of Todd’s award-winning plans have been featured in national publications. But REED BROTHERS prefers to create custom designs for each client rather than building from plans developed by external architects, which often contain inefficiencies or overlook the realities of specific lots.
“We guarantee our designs will work in the field—because we’ve designed them ourselves, specifically for each client,” Ron says.
Custom Homes, Creative Challenges
REED BROTHERS primarily serves the Lake Lanier region, where complex terrain and narrow lots require inventive solutions. Projects range from $400,000 rural homes to multi-million-dollar lakefront estates, each with its own unique architectural style and site challenges.
Clients increasingly request blends of craftsman and cottage styles, incorporating elements like shiplap walls, vaulted great rooms, white kitchen cabinetry, and sliding barn doors. The firm takes pride in meeting these requests while maintaining functionality and character.
Client-Centered Service
The REED BROTHERS approach goes far beyond blueprints. Todd works closely with clients during the planning and budgeting phase, while Ron leads on-site walkthroughs and construction oversight. Clients often visit other REED BROTHERS homes to help refine their own ideas.
“We get to know our clients extremely well and often stay friends after the project ends,” says Todd. “That’s the best part of this work.”
Both brothers keep their phones on hand for any questions or concerns—ensuring open communication throughout the build.
