It’s been a difficult summer for the construction industry, as builders continue to work in the midst of the pandemic and economic downturn. They could use more solutions to make projects move more smoothly, and the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is taking action to make sure that happens. This week, it announced the launch of its inaugural Tech Alliance, which is a consortium of companies that creates construction technology and digital solutions for ABC contractor members.

The majority of these members, the association notes, are classified as small businesses and primarily work in the industrial and commercial sectors. The Tech Alliance, which consists of 13 firms, will leverage its solutions to help ABC members develop workers, earn projects and deliver them safely, ethically and profitably.

“The need for technological solutions — both big and small — in the construction industry is clear, especially given changing work conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic,” ABC Vice President of Construction Technology and Innovation Matt Abeles said. “I look forward to the exceptional products, education and dialogue the Tech Alliance companies will bring to ABC members and our evolving industry, especially as we continue to implement technology to revolutionize the design, build and delivery process.”

The Alliance will introduce solutions for such areas as bidding, billing, BIM, field collaboration, job costing, safety analytics, security, subcontractor management and time tracking, and others. In addition, “Tech Alliance companies will also collaborate on resources for ABC members, including beta testing, free technology programs and educational webinars, and provide ABC’s 69 chapters with access to technology products being [used] in the field by ABC contractor members,” it adds.
