Downtime can be a major blow to a construction project, preventing builders from getting back to work and delivering the final product on schedule. But The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and autonomous heavy equipment firm SafeAI are doing their part to ensure that happens less on jobsites.

This week, the companies announced their strategic partnership to incorporate tire intelligence into the programming of autonomous heavy equipment vehicles. According to Goodyear, the companies will exchange site data through an integration with the SafeAI autonomous ecosystem, allowing builders to protect tire health, eliminate downtime and contribute to a smarter, safer standard in construction. An active construction site in Cupertino, Calif., will deploy the tire intelligence from Goodyear’s TPMS Heavy Duty rim-mounted sensors.

“We will not only empower site operators with greater visibility and efficiency, but also gain invaluable machine performance data to inform our future innovation in autonomy and heavy equipment.”
