Southern Co. and Mississippi Power Shine Bright With Solar Roof Initiative


A Tesla Solar Roof was installed on this Habitat for Humanity Home in Hattiesburg, Miss., by Cross Roofing, a Certified Tesla Installer, in less than three days.

More and more, housing projects are being built with methods that help reduce the impacts on the natural environment. Mississippi Power and Southern Co. are following that lead with their new partnership to build the first smart neighborhood in the world with the Tesla Solar Roof.

This past summer, Mississippi Power and Tesla collaborated on the first Solar Roof in the state on a Habitat for Humanity home in Hattiesburg. The roof, which was installed by Cross Roofing in less than three days, provides data to Mississippi Power that allows it to see how well it performs in southeast Mississippi.

“This smart neighborhood is designed to simplify homeowners’ lives and give them more control over their home and energy use.”
