Not a week goes by where we do not hear about a challenge that has become pervasive in the construction industry: the search for talented labor. Builders want to know where the next wave of workers is going to come from.
The answer to this problem may be millennials. Cindy Smith, the vice president of Great Falls Construction, told Mainebiz that her company has seen a rise in millennials entering the construction industry. “It’s pretty exciting to see more young people going into construction,” she said.
The company employs a diverse and younger workforce, which both Smith and President Jon Smith appreciate. “It’s really pretty exciting to see,” he told the magazine, which covers business news in Maine.
Great Falls also offers its workers strong benefits, including paying 100 percent of healthcare insurance. “Our goal is to have career-minded team members,” Cindy Smith told Mainebiz. “And our team members really need that benefit.”
